Removal of support for IE11

Modified on Fri, 24 Jan at 10:29 AM

Position Green is announcing the removal of support for the browser Internet Explorer 11 (IE11) effective 30 September 2021. If you prefer, or are required, to use a Microsoft browser Microsoft Edge is recommended to use our platform. Major browsers such as Chrome, Firefox, and Safari are also supported.

What does this mean?

After 30 September 2021, the Position Green platform will no longer be accessible using Internet Explorer 11. End-users will no longer be able to report sustainability data, change any content or interact with it.

Why is Position Green removing this?

In 2015, Microsoft released Edge browser as a replacement for IE11. Because of this, Internet Explorer no longer receives major updates adding the latest security and functionality that support complex web apps like Position Green. Microsoft will completely drop support for IE11 2025 so further investment in the browser is no longer viable.

Position Green strives to deliver new features that meet our customers' needs. The increasing gap between Internet Explorer and all other browsers has meant that we need to expend considerable effort to avoid and fix defects that only appear in that browser. It limits our technology choices and dampens our ability to deliver the reliability and functionality that our customers expect.

Because only a small percentage of Position Green customers use IE11 on the platform we are removing support to concentrate on the latest browsers with the latest functionality.
