Sometimes it is beneficial to have the survey in several different languages to get better data collection, depending on which language the company contact speaks.
We recommend you finalize the template in one language before adding on additional When you have created a template and want to add an additional language to the template. Otherwise, it can be hard to keep track of what you have changed in the different translations.
How to set up additional languages
Step 1. Go to Settings of the Survey template and add a language
In settings, you find some additional settings such as Layout settings and Language Settings. Add a new language by clicking "+Add language".

- Add a name to your additional language
- Select a culture
- Select an export template for the survey
- Recommended to select "Export of questionnaire (English)" unless the language is Swedish
In this example, you have configured the availability to add a Finnish version of the survey.
Step 2. Add the translation for all questions and elements
For the first version, we recommend you take some support from your Sustainability Platform team by providing them with a document where the primary language of the questions is mapped to the additional language questions. e.g in an excel file. This is because it will require some HTML skills for the first additional version of the new language.
However, if you feel that you want to try setting it up by yourself, please click "Export Translation"
Click the Export Translation to access the configuration template
This will start a download of an excel spreadsheet of the survey in a technical format. Fill out the translation in the column for the additional language. Each row represents an element or a question in the given survey. Don't forget if there is HTML formatting in the default language, that formatting is needed in the additional language as well. When you are done, save the file.

Step 3. Import the additional translations
To import your translated questions into the platform, press "Import Translations" and either drag and drop or choose a file.
If the format is not correct you will get an error message. Please correct the error and upload it again. The error messages are not too revealing so please contact your Sustainability Platform Expert for support.

Step 4. Add an export template
For 9 out of 10 cases, you should select "Export of questionnaire (English)". The one case when you could select another template is if the given language is Swedish, then select "Exporter enkät (Svensk)".
Step 5. Check the translation in the survey
You are able to review the translations in two different ways.
The first one is to review it enter the editor for a question and press the language symbol, which is only available if you have configured a language in Settings. In "Multilanguage" you are also able to edit the text by clicking on the text you want to edit.
