How to import data into Position Green

Modified on Mon, 24 Mar at 3:22 PM

When the import is set up by Position Green, the users being "Controllers" will be able to import data from files. To do so you will have to move away from the ordinary reporting view, "Registrations", to the location called ”Import files”. You can find this In the submenu next to ”Registrations” in the reporting view.

The file you want to import data from must always have the same format when uploading it, otherwise Position Green will have some trouble understanding the data you want to import.

Upload the file to the PG inbox

To import data from a file, you must first upload the file to the PG inbox.

Step-by-step to upload a file to inbox

Step 1 - Select which file to import

In the dropdown, select which import to use (if several). If there are certain requirements for the file, that will be stated in "Upload file".

Step 2 - Drag-and-drop

Upload a file by dragging the file you wish to import into the grey area on the screen, or click the gray area to select the file from the file explorer.

Step 3 - Ready to import

The file will now be found in the inbox under ”Select file to import”, and the first table with files that are ”Ready to import”.

Import data

Once you have uploaded the files into the inbox you can start the import process.

Step by step to import data

Step 1 - Click the name of the file

To proceed, click the name of the file which takes you to a page that shows you the data that will be imported into the platform. A summary of the data found in the file is then shown.

Step 2 - Ensure it is the correct data

Please look through the data and ensure it looks correct. If there are any warnings or errors on top of the page, please contact Position Green to understand more about why the error message has been generated.

Step 3 - Press "Import"

When you have looked through the data, you finalize the import by pressing ”Import”, the blue button on the top or bottom right of the page

The data is now imported into the registrations. To verify this, visit the ordinary reporting page where all your registrations are listed. Find the right measure and open it. You will be able to see imported data from the file entered to the measure points.

Access to upload files

Note that a reporter needs the right access to be able to import a file. Anyone with access level ”controller” can upload a file into position green, and not only the responsible reporter for a certain measure. The data will be entered into all measures connected to the selected import.

Traceability

When a file is imported, the file will be moved from the inbox to the table, "Imported files", at the bottom of the import page. These can never be deleted due to traceability. Whenever you want to look into previously imported data, the files can always be found here.

Do not forget to confirm the measures connected to the import when finished.
