General measure properties

Modified on Tue, 25 Mar at 2:09 PM

Almost all of the measures above share a common set of properties, such as Name and Description. Number, Sum, and Calculation are all number-based and share the Unit property.

Number, sum & calculation.

Properties to the right in the Measure Builder.

Name - The name shown to the Reporter. Ensure that the name will stand alone i.e. that it is unique and identifiable when viewed in the survey. The name will be shown when data is exported to Excel.

When choosing a name, make sure it includes enough relevant information to make it understandable and uniquely identifiable when presented outside the canvas. This is the information that will be shown in the Excel exports together with the data.

In short: While inputs may be shown together visually, they may not always be presented together. The datapoint should be able to stand alone and be presented on its own outside the canvas.

Description - The description is shown under the information icon when the User reports data.

Example of how the description looks in the User view. The User clicks the ? to find out more information.

The measure is required

The checkbox, "This measure is required" indicates that the user must add data into the field. If optional, an indicator will be shown above the input.

See box checked - This measure is required.

Hide from reporting view

This option effectively makes the measure point invisible to the reporter, which is useful when a part of a measure is irrelevant to report on or if a calculation is supposed to be done in the background. The field This measure is required must be unticked to be able to toggle on Hide from reporting view. Note that all hidden measure points are still visible in raw data exports as well as any connected visualisation.

Notes

Add notes connected to the measure point. This information will not be available in the set-up export.

For example, a description for a certain calculation like a measure point that has changed in behavior over the reporting years.

Properties for Number, Sum, and Calculations

Unit - Select from the list of predefined units or add a new, custom unit.

Threshold - Add a specific or override the threshold for a single measure point. If you would like the same threshold on all numeric fields in the same measure, read here.

The threshold for a single measure point.

Thresholds cannot be applied within a repeatable section of a measure.
