Interoperability

Modified on Thu, 8 Jan at 2:55 PM

Interoperability allows data to be reported once and automatically reused in other measures within the same product. Use interoperability to reduce duplicate reporting and ensure consistent data across measures.

Interoperability is available in the following products:

  • Sustainability Reporting
  • Supplier Assessments
  • Investment Monitoring

Interoperability does not work between products.

How interoperability works

Report data in one measure and that data is automatically reused in connected measures.

Connected measures:

  • are updated automatically when source data changes
  • are always read-only
  • cannot be edited manually

If source data is not yet reported, the connected measure shows that data is pending.

Reporting behaviour

Source data updates trigger automatic recalculation of connected measures.

Confirmed entries in connected measures continue to update when source data changes.

Locked entries are not updated until unlocked.

Reporting over time

When source and connected measures are reported at different intervals, and data flows from a higher to a lower reporting frequency (for example, quarterly to yearly), data is handled as follows:

  • Number values are summed across reporting periods
  • Text responses are combined
  • Yes/No, dropdown, and date values use the most recent value
  • Files uploaded across periods are collected

Supported scope

Interoperability applies only within the same product.

Source and connected measures must:

  • belong to the same org.unit
  • follow the same or lower reporting frequency in the connected measure

Data can flow from higher frequency to lower frequency reporting (for example, quarterly to yearly).

Guardrails

Be aware of the following guardrails:

  • Connected measures are always read-only
  • A measure cannot both send and receive data
  • Repeatable sections are not supported
  • Circular data flows are prevented automatically

When interoperability is removed

  • If a connection between measures is removed, the connected measure becomes manually editable.
  • If the connection is later restored, manually entered data is replaced by data from the original measure.
