What’s it for?

This feature allows you to compare your company’s sustainability performance against peers using a unique dataset based on real data from the Position Green. This guide walks you through the steps to navigate and maximize these benchmark insights.

Getting Started

To begin using the Benchmark feature:

  1. Access the Benchmark – Press the Benchmark link in the left-hand navigation.
  2. Navigate the Benchmark hub – Explore the Benchmark hub and subpages to understand your company's position in the benchmark.

How to use the Benchmark

1. Understand Your Performance

  • The Performance page presents a comprehensive view of how your company’s sustainability performance stacks up against the benchmark.

  • It can help you identify key areas where you excel and where improvements are needed.

2. Find Your Position in the Performance view

  • A blue dot represents your company’s performance level against the Benchmark.
  • Performance segments highlight different benchmarks, and a median line provides context for industry standards.

3. Dive Into the Details with the Analyze view

  • Analyze performance metric by metric to gain deeper insights into different sustainability areas.
  • Use this information to pinpoint areas for targeted improvement.
  • Switch between various data visualizations to understand insights from multiple angles.
  • Utilize Custom benchmarks by adjusting ‘Filter benchmark’ to compare your performance with the most relevant peer group.
  • Adjust comparison parameters based on industry, region, or company size.

4. Get full transparency with the Method & Composition view

  • Gain a clear view of the benchmark’s composition by sector, region, and company size.
  • Learn about the methodology behind the dataset to ensure informed decision-making.

5. Scenarios

The Scenarios function allows you to add additional scenarios or data points to your benchmark analytics. It was designed with a sandbox mindset, giving you the freedom to add what is most relevant for you.

Examples include:

  • A target you are aiming for
  • A key competitor
  • A specific section of your organisation
  • A benchmark index you have access to

5.1 How scenarios work

In the sidebar navigation, go to Scenarios (found under Benchmark) and click Add scenario.

You will find a set of input fields where you can enter data. These inputs represent the same metrics used in the benchmark. None of the inputs are mandatory, so you can add partially filled-out scenarios if not all metrics are relevant to you.

The only required field is the name of the scenario. Without it, you won’t see the scenario in the picker within the benchmark.

5.2 Adding more scenarios

You can add as many scenarios as you like. Simply click Add new scenario, which you’ll always find at the bottom of the page.

5.3 Deleting a scenario

At the bottom of each scenario, you’ll find the option to remove it from your setup. Please note: once deleted, a scenario is permanently removed.

5.4 Applying scenarios

Once you’ve set up your first scenario, head back into the Benchmark feature. Along with the other filters, you’ll now see the option to apply scenarios.

Currently, you can apply one scenario at a time.

By leveraging the Benchmark feature, you can:

  • Identify strengths and areas for ESG improvement.
  • Compare your company’s performance against industry peers.
  • Make data-driven decisions to enhance sustainability efforts.
