Overview
Company-specific instructions let you add extra guidance for reporters without changing the measure template structure. This is especially useful if you use Automatic Updates (AU) and still need to clarify how reporters should interpret a measure for your organisation.
When to use this
Use company-specific instructions when you want to:
- Add measure-level guidance that is specific to your organisation.
- Keep the core measure structure instact, while still supporting reporters with context.
- Reduce back-and-forth with reporters by centralising guidance in the reporting flow.
Before you start
- The feature is designed for AU customers, but can be used broadly where measure templates are locked.
- You need access to your organisation’s setup.
Add or edit company-specific instructions
Go to Setup.
- Open the Measures list.
- Find the measure you want to clarify.
- In the More options menu, select Company-specific instructions.
- Write your instructions in the rich text editor.
- Once finalized, tick “Show these instructions to data reporters”.
- Save.
How reporters see the instructions
When a reporter opens the relevant measure in the reporting view, the company-specific instructions are shown above the measure content. This keeps the instructions visible without changing the measure structure itself.
Tips for writing good instructions
- Start with what the reporter should do, then add context.
- Use short bullets.
- Include examples if a measure is often misinterpreted.
FAQ
Can I use this if I am not on Automatic Updates (AU)?
Yes. The feature is primarily motivated by modules on AU, but it can be useful in other template scenarios as well.
Can I add instructions in multiple languages?
Not currently. If you operate in multiple languages, align on a process for maintaining translated versions externally until translation support is available.
