Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

Business Central Integration Guide: Granting Access to the Position Green App Registration. This guide helps clients install, enable, and grant access to the Position Green Azure AD application in their Dynamics 365 Business Central (cloud) environment.

Prerequisites

  • Active Dynamics 365 Business Central SaaS environment (Production or Sandbox)
  • Azure AD Global Administrator or Privileged Role Administrator access
  • Microsoft 365 license with Business Central
  • Position Green App Registration Client ID (provided by Position Green)

1. Grant Admin Consent to the Position Green App

Position Green App Client ID: d31e6eca-cb85-4f80-816b-f3a5394b7e12

  1. Open this link in your browser:
    https://login.microsoftonline.com/common/adminconsent?client_id=d31e6eca-cb85-4f80-816b-f3a5394b7e12
  2. Sign in with your Azure AD admin account.
  3. Approve the consent prompt.

Note: You will be redirected to the Position Green website if everything was successful.

2. Add the App in your Business Central Company/Environment

For this step, you need to have access to your company's Business Central portal.

  1. Access the Business Central portal.
  2. Select your targeted environment (e.g., Production).
  3. In the Search bar (upper right corner icon), click and search for Microsoft Entra Applications.
  4. Click on the "+New" button.
  5. Populate the Client ID with the Position Green provided Client ID (d31e6eca-cb85-4f80-816b-f3a5394b7e12) value and add a mandatory Description. (The description field does not affect the integration in any way).
  6. Change the application State to "Enabled".
  7. Confirm the application creation.

3. Assign Permissions in Business Central

In the same window, under "User Permission Sets", please assign the necessary permissions for the application registration to be able to fetch data from Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central.

We recommend assigning the 'D365 READ' Permission for enabling read access to all API endpoints.

Adding Permissions is done by clicking on the empty Permission Set field -> (⋮) -> choosing the noted permission from the list of permissions.

If assigning a custom set, include at minimum access to:
  • Companies
  • Dimensions (all)
  • Vendors
  • Purchase Invoices
  • General Ledger Setup
  • General Ledger Entries

4. What do we need?

After completing the above steps successfully, please use the following information for setting up the integration:

  • Your Azure Tenant ID
  • Your Dynamics365 Business Central Environment name
  • Your Dynamics365 Business Central Company name

On our side, put this information in the corresponding fields. If you do not see or do not know your Azure Tenant ID, please ask your cloud administrator.
