Overview

Company-specific instructions let you add guidance for respondents without changing the survey itself. This can be used to provide additional context, explain expectations, or help respondents understand how to interpret and answer questions.

Before you start

  • To add or edit company-specific instructions, you must have Setup access.

When to use this

Use company-specific instructions when you want to:

  • Add survey-specific guidance for respondents.
  • Provide additional context without modifying the survey.
  • Reduce back-and-forth by centralising instructions in the reporting flow.

Add or edit company-specific instructions

  1. Go to Company Setup.
  2. Open Surveys.
  3. Open the survey you want to update.
  4. Locate the survey section you want to add instructions to and click the document icon in the section header to open Company-specific instructions.
  5. Write your instructions in the rich text editor.
  6. Tick Show these instructions to respondents.
  7. Save.

How respondents see the instructions

When a respondent opens a section of the survey that has company-specific instructions configured, the instructions are shown at the top of that section. This ensures that relevant guidance is visible where respondents enter their responses.

Important notes

  • Company-specific instructions are configured by users with Setup access.
  • Instructions are shown consistently to all respondents participating in the survey, helping ensure a shared understanding of expectations and reporting requirements.
  • Company-specific instructions can be configured at the survey section level.

Tips for writing good instructions

  • Start with what the respondent should do.
  • Use short bullet points.
  • Include examples if questions are commonly misunderstood.
